Indeed. Watchtower has liquidated a lot of properties for cash. Where is the money going? Most likely to the Governing Body Disaster Preparedness Fund. Because their EVERY need is more important than anything else.

A scripture that seems to say, "money is the answer for everything" lol.
by EndofMysteries inecc 10:19 bread is for the laughter of the workers, and wine itself makes life rejoice, but money is what meets a response in all things.
.
or the brand new nwt released this year.... "bread is made for laughter, and wine makes life enjoyable, but money answers every need.".

God has been much too busy deciding which football players deserve to win because of their faith. You can't expect him to fret over the possible deaths of a quarter million people when you have the prospect of self-promotion when a football player can score on national television and say, "Thank You Jesus!"

The most disturbing Watchtower quote in 2013.
by never a jw ini am trying to put together the worst of 2013. the first quote that comes to mind is possibly your "favorite" too.
do you have any other disturbing quotes from the publications in the wt?.
elders who are reading this article can draw some useful conclusions from the account we have just considered: (1) the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.

"All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not."
If anything has been proven this year, whatever these secret instructions are that the GB gives to the sheeples, it will be posted here on JWN before my parents hear a word about it.

It's hard to argue with that logic. After all, if it's on the interwebz, it has to be true.

Understand: Our salvation is not Jesus' primary concern
by pixel in...at least that's what the sunday study said:.
"at the same time, we need to understand that our salvation is not jesus' primary concern.
his main purpose from the beginning to the end of his earthly ministry was to work for the sanctification and glory of his father's name".

They really don't believe that salvation comes through Christ...
SALVATION COMES FROM OBEYING THE GOVERNING BODY! That's the true message of JWs.

Evidently the yearbook is late because "necessary printing supplies" were delayed by bad weather...

Welcome!
I used to wonder about why we would use the books of the bible chosen by the Datholics. I ignored those doubts for decades. Once I allowed myself to have a look at a Catholic Bible with commentary, I finally realized that it wasn't "God's Word". Particularly when I researched and put together the facts to realize that Daniel was all fiction, very quickly, 1914 and much of the rest of my JW beliefs began to crumble. But the straw that broke the camel's back was the pedophile cases that began to come to light.

Questions on Evolution and the Existence of God and...
by ILoveTTATT ini know this is one huge rant, but i want to put my own questions and doubts in writing.. i am a fading jw who has become agnostic... i still believe in "god" and "jesus," but i simply cannot explain to people why i believe in them.
i just do.. about the existence of god: it is an infinite regress.
"all things were created by someone"... well... who created god?

"The energy of a system as a whole always decreases, and the entropy always increases. Eventually the sun will run out of fuel, the planets will stop spinning, etc... eventually all will be cold, energy-less, and life-less. (If you take the 2nd law of thermo to its logical conclusion)."
If I understand the direction of your thinking, you're taking what we learned in Thermo and follow it to it's "logical" conclusion. All the fuel is depleted and nothing is left to power any systems. We're doomed to a certain death... in the next hundred billion years or so. Consequently, don't go buying any green bananas, eh?
That's where theoretical physics comes in. I won't pretend to know much about it, but at it's basis is the realization that everything we know (including the laws of thermo), is still limited. As one ChemE to another... How much did we really learn about gravity? Oh, we learned the equations and the effects are evident, but it's still an active area of research to understand mass attraction. In my flawed opinion, gravitons could be found to be in disagreement with a generalization of the second law, or rather, shed "new light" on where the second law does and doesn't apply.
Before I go further with thoretical physics, is this the type of thing you're wondering about?
